Tecuan is crafted by a Union of producers who all have a long history, each individual member having their own story and traditions. Many are third generation agave farmers, who together
decided to form a group that guaranteed the supply side challenges of mezcal production.
The origin of the word ‘Tecuan’ derives from the Náhuatl word ‘Tecuani’, a specie of jaguar native to the states of Guerrero and Michoacan. There are more perceived aromatic notes from
cupreataagave compared to other varieties, owing to a longer 10-12 year life-cycle of the plant.
Most of the agave harvested comes from wild areas of Chipalzingo, growing at altitudes between 1200-1800m and having a similar appearance to the tobaladeriving from Oaxaca, distinguishable by its copper colour spines surrounding broad green penca leaves.
Tasting Notes
Eye: clearly sparkling with diamond radiance.
Nose: Sweet, yellow fruits, mango, orange peal, linden flowers aromas. Slightly smoky.
Mouth: First hint with sweet jammy, citrusy notes. Warming feeling with long apricot, cooked agave, honey, thyme and smoked plums aftertaste.
Perfect with light carnes and seafood. For sipping and mix with light cocktails. Grande!!
